Flexible Enrollment, Unmatched Experience
ACIL Valencia operates as a campus of a Miami based U.S. accredited high school, not a Spanish school.
This allows students to earn a fully recognized American diploma while studying in Valencia.
The ACIL International High School Diploma meets the requirements and high standards of the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), one of the six regional accrediting agencies in the United States.
This accreditation ensures:
-
Academic quality
-
Global recognition
-
University acceptance worldwide
Students graduate with a U.S. High School Diploma accepted by universities in the United States, Europe, and internationally.
Families should note that this system does not automatically align with the Spanish education system (ESO/Bachillerato). For students who require official recognition in Spain, the ACIL High School Diploma must go through the homologation process with the Spanish Ministry of Education. During this process, some credits may need to be converted to meet Spanish curriculum requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions
We offer an American curriculum built on the Common Core State Standards, Arizona College and Career Ready Standards, Stanford Design Thinking, and the CASEL Framework. This combination helps students develop strong academic skills, creativity, problem solving abilities, and emotional intelligence.
No. ACIL Valencia is an in person school, not an online school.
While we use AI powered educational tools and personalized learning platforms, students do not spend their day learning independently on a computer. On average, students spend about two hours per day using personalized learning platforms for core academic subjects.
The remainder of the school day is spent working directly with teachers and peers through seminars, discussions, workshops, presentations, coaching sessions, design thinking projects, and collaborative learning experiences.
Learning at ACIL is highly interactive. For example, subjects such as Social Studies, Reading, and Writing often include teacher led instruction, Socratic discussions, debates, group projects, and presentations. In Mathematics, learning is more personalized, allowing students to progress at their own pace while receiving individual support and guidance from both the educational platform and their facilitator.
This blended approach combines the benefits of personalized technology with meaningful human interaction, helping students develop strong academic skills, critical thinking abilities, communication skills, and collaboration skills.
All our teachers are called facilitators because their role goes beyond traditional teaching. Rather than delivering the same lesson to an entire class, facilitators work closely with students in small groups and one on one to provide personalized instructions, guidance, support, and coaching.
All ACIL facilitators are qualified educators with teaching credentials and relevant educational backgrounds. Most of our faculty members are from the United States and hold U.S. teaching licenses, degree and academic qualifications. Their experience helps ensure that students receive an education aligned with American academic standards and university admission expectations.
We also have educators from other countries, including Spain. Our Spanish language classes are taught by a native Spanish teacher, giving students authentic language instruction and cultural understanding.
In addition to our facilitators, many of our advanced and dual enrollment courses are taught by university professors and subject matter experts through our educational partnerships. ACIL facilitators provide ongoing support and mentorship to help students succeed in these courses.
Our international team combines academic expertise, real world experience, and diverse cultural perspectives, creating a personalized and globally minded learning environment for every student.
Dual enrollment allows high school students to take university level courses while still enrolled in high school, earning both high school credits and university credits at the same time.
At ACIL, most students become eligible for dual enrollment beginning in 9th grade, depending on their academic readiness and the requirements of the university partner. This means students can begin earning college credits years before graduating from high school.
Many dual enrollment courses are taught by university professors through our partner institutions, including Arizona State University. Students receive a university level learning experience while continuing to receive personalized support and guidance from ACIL facilitators.
Dual enrollment offers several advantages:
• Earn university credits while completing high school requirements.
• Strengthen university applications with proven college level coursework.
• Explore academic interests and potential career paths.
• Develop the skills and confidence needed for success in higher education.
• Potentially reduce the time and cost required to complete a university degree.
The number of dual enrollment courses available to a student depends on their academic performance, goals, and university eligibility requirements.
All ACIL students have the opportunity to earn an American High School Diploma upon successful completion of graduation requirements.
In addition, students who participate in dual enrollment courses earn official university credits and receive university transcripts issued directly by university. These courses count toward both high school graduation requirements and university credit requirements at the same time.
Importantly, dual enrollment does not create additional coursework on top of a student's regular high school schedule. Students are taking university courses in place of traditional high school courses, allowing them to earn both high school and university credit for the same class.
Some students may graduate with additional qualifications, such as professional certificates, industry credentials, or even an Associate Degree. The specific opportunities available depend on the student's academic goals, course selection, and the amount of time they are enrolled at ACIL during their high school years.
This allows many ACIL students to begin their university education while still in high school, potentially saving time and tuition costs while strengthening their university applications and career readiness.
In addition to our academic program, ACIL connects students with business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, and industry professionals. We regularly invite business owners, CEOs, founders, and investors to mentor students and share their real world experiences.
Students have opportunities to develop their own business ideas while receiving guidance from professionals who have successfully built and led companies. Throughout the year, students participate in Startup Weekends, business workshops, innovation programs, and entrepreneurial events hosted by venture capital firms, business organizations, universities, and industry experts.
Every week, students participate in ACIL Inspires, a speaker series where guest speakers share their personal journeys, challenges, successes, and lessons learned in business, leadership, education, and life. These conversations give students direct access to people who have achieved meaningful goals and provide valuable insights into different career paths and opportunities.
By learning directly from professionals and engaging with the broader business community, students gain practical knowledge, professional skills, and real world perspectives that extend far beyond a traditional classroom education.
The primary university destinations for our graduates are the United States, Spain, the United Kingdom, and other European countries.
Our students have been accepted to a wide range of institutions, including Penn State University (USA), Hong Kong Metropolitan University, Northeastern University London (UK), BIMM University (Ireland), European University Madrid (Spain), and many others.
Because ACIL follows an American curriculum and offers dual enrollment opportunities, our graduates are well prepared for admission to universities both in the United States and around the world. Through university level coursework, academic planning, students build strong academic profiles that support their success in higher education.
University admission requirements vary by country and institution. Students are responsible for contacting each university directly to confirm its specific admission requirements and recognition policies.
ACIL's American High School Diploma is designed to prepare students for admission to universities in the United States and many institutions around the world. However, each university makes its own admission decisions.
For students seeking admission to universities in Spain, the ACIL High School Diploma must be processed through the Spanish Ministry of Education's homologation or equivalency procedure.
We recommend that families research university requirements early in the high school years to ensure that students meet all admission and recognition requirements for their intended destination.
Our language of instruction is 100% English. We also offer Spanish language classes taught by a native Spanish teacher.
The day for Middle school students is from 09.30 to 15:00, for High School students is from 10:00 till 15:30.
The Academic year begins in September and ends in June.
Students who turn 12 years old can begin in our Middle School program.
The ACIL grade level placement policy is based on the student’s previous academic enrollment, not only on the year of the child’s birth.

For applicants whose first language is not English, evidence of English proficiency may be required. ACIL accepts the Duolingo English Test, and a score of 105 or higher is generally considered sufficient for admission to Middle School and High School programs.
As part of the admissions process, ACIL reviews each student's academic record, English language proficiency, and overall readiness to succeed in our learning environment.
Admission decisions are based on a holistic review of the applicant and are made at the discretion of the school.
Additional documentation may be requested as part of the admissions process.
-
Students applying to Middle School and High School whose first language is not English must demonstrate a strong level of English proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in order to be considered for admission.
A minimum score of 105 on the Duolingo English Test is accepted as proof of English proficiency. The Duolingo English Test is recognized by many universities around the world, including institutions in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and other countries.

Students have the opportunity to accelerate their learning. Rather than advancing based on age or grade level, students progress by earning high school credits toward graduation.
Once a student has successfully completed all High School Diploma requirements, including the required 24 credits, they may graduate early regardless of their age or traditional grade level.
This flexible approach allows motivated students to move at a pace that matches their abilities and goals.
We do not offer boarding facilities nor do we have any contacts with organizations or third parties who may offer these types of services to potential students. ACIL applicants must live with their parent(s) or legal guardian(s).
The school offers very limited support for students with special needs.
Our Weekly Experience Program is part of the Fine Arts curriculum and earns students Art credits.
Students who have already fulfilled their Fine Arts or Art credit requirements at a previous high school may be eligible to opt out of the Weekly Experience Program, subject to a review of their academic records and transcript.
Each request is evaluated individually to ensure that graduation requirements are met.
Our science program is delivered in partnership with Arizona State University (ASU).
High school students have the opportunity to earn both high school science credits and university credits at the same time through ASU courses.
Science courses include online laboratory components and are taught by Arizona State University professors. Students also receive on site support, guidance from ACIL facilitators to help them stay engaged and successful.
This partnership gives students access to university level coursework while still benefiting from the personalized support and learning environment of ACIL.
ACIL offers Physical Education and Health courses that include fitness training and gym based activities as part of the curriculum.
Many of our students also participate in sports outside of school. They are often enrolled in local sports academies, competitive soccer clubs, basketball programs, tennis academies, dance studios, martial arts programs, or other athletic activities after school.
This approach allows students to pursue the sports they are most passionate about while maintaining a flexible academic schedule. Many of our students train at a high level and compete as members of professional or semi professional sports teams.
